Sacramento Capitals Add Up-and-Coming Young American, Ryan Sweeting, to 2012 Roster
(Sacramento, CA) – The Sacramento Capitals have added up-and-coming young American player, Ryan Sweeting, to the team's roster. Sweeting, who will make his World TeamTennis debut with the Capitals on the road July 9 against the Boston Lobsters, captured his first ATP title in Houston earlier this year, and is currently ranked No. 134 in singles. He will play again for the Capitals on July 10 against the Philadelphia Freedoms and on July 14 against the Orange County Breakers.
“Adding Ryan to our roster gives us a burst of energy to start off the season,” said Ramey Osborne, Capitals Managing General Partner. “He is a very talented up-and-coming American player who has had a great year. Not only did he win his first ATP title this year, but he also qualified for the Australian Open and advanced to the quarterfinals in Delray Beach. We look forward to putting his talent to work for the Capitals this season,” he added.
Sweeting joins a Caps roster that includes marquee player Mardy Fish, Mark Knowles, Sam Querrey, Coco Vandeweghe, Yasmin Schnack and Asia Muhammad. Wayne Bryan is the coach of the Capitals.
“I can't wait to team up with one of the best coaches in the game, Wayne Bryan, and my Bahamian compatriot, Mark Knowles. It's an honor to play for Sacramento and here's hoping for a great summer,” commented Sweeting, who was born in the Bahamas and became an American citizen in 2006.
